

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our patriarch Roswald James Saulteaux. Ross passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025 at 4:50 a.m. at the age of 81 years, surrounded by his loving family, in Indian Head, Saskatchewan.
Ross was born on February 4, 1944, in Wolseley, Saskatchewan, to Alec Saulteaux and Juliette Saulteaux (née Prettyshield).
He is lovingly remembered by his partner of 35 years, Jeanette McNab; daughters: Juliette Martin (Ron), Margo Saulteaux (Morris) and Pam Saulteaux (Curtis); grandchildren: Tonia, Desiree, Destinee (Jon), Michael, Renee, Jared, Olivia (Feyd) and Lexi; 10 cherished great-grandchildren; sisters Myrtle Hassler and Aletha Whitefeather; brother Clyde O’Watch and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Ross was predeceased by his father Alec and his mother Juliette; his birth father Jim O’Watch; brothers: Arnold, Alvin, Ronald, Roy and Franklin; sisters: Helen, Doreen, Marita and Reverend Bernice.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Indian Head Union Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ross may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
A funeral service for Roswald was held Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, Wolseley, Saskatchewan, officiated by Bernard and Joanne Jack. The pallbearers were Michael Saulteaux, Jared Martin, Troy McNab, Neil Assoon, Guy Hassler and Eric Hassler. The honorary pallbearers were Duncan Thomson, Ivan Thomson Sr., Harris Racette, Ron Martin, Morris Pasap, Curtis Whitehawk, Derek Saulteaux, Willard Thomson, Clyde O’Watch and Rodney Hotomani. The interment took place in the South Cemetery, Carry The Kettle First Nation following the service. A meal shared with family took place after the interment in the Carry The Kettle Community Centre.
