Craig was raised in St. Paul and graduated from Nazareth Hall High School in Roseville. He joined the U.S. Army after high school and was stationed in Germany as a radio operator. Upon honorable discharged, he became an RN, working in the emergency department and then became a Nationally Registered Paramedic, working for Divine Redeemer/HealthEast. In addition, he was a member of the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (deployed to Hurricane Katrina) and taught ACLS and PALS.
Craig enjoyed reading, following current events, all dogs, Boy Scouts with his sons and pulling off practical jokes on his gullible daughter. He loved the annual Wisconsin Dells trip when his children were young, the Las Vegas trips with his paramedic buddies and camping with the Boy Scouts. He was a constant at the Woodbury McDonald's and never got tired of his double hamburger, large fries and diet coke with "just a little ice."
He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Heidi (Jake); sons, Erik and Bjorn; grandsons, Isaiah and Jeremiah; several siblings and nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Dr. C Fares and Drew Holm PA-C for the care the past several months and to the phenomenal nursing staff on units 3300 and 3920 at United Hospital for their expertise and compassion- caring for Craig and his family and to the multiple medical specialities involved. His medical management was seamless and the communication was exceptional.
There will be a private graveside service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with military honors.
Carry on Sgt. Rock and be the Big Dog!
