Born on February 28, 1944, in Portland, Oregon, Dan was one of five children raised by Ines (Oksanen) and T. Leonard Juntune. He graduated from high school in both Minnesota and Canada, and went on to attend Bethel College in St. Paul.
In 1967, Dan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving during the Vietnam War. He was part of a technical team that used flight simulators to train pilots on B52 bombers, a mission that blended precision and purpose—hallmarks of Dan’s character.
Following his service, Dan enjoyed a long and impactful career at Waterous Company in South St. Paul, where he worked from 1978 to 2006. As Sales Manager, he traveled throughout the U.S. and Canada, training firefighters to operate elite fire pump systems. It was at Waterous that he met Betty, the woman who would become his beloved wife of over 35 years.
Dan is survived by Betty and their children: Christine Broxey (Brett), Brad Anderson, Katherine Miraldi (Keith), and Ryan Anderson; grandchildren: Lauren Fries (Ryan), Erica Broxey, Isaac, Ben, and Ella Miraldi, Brandon Broxey (Danielle), Brooke Pahl (Marshall); great-grandchildren: Elyse, Max, Lincoln, Cole, Joey, Jones, Fitz; siblings: Tom Juntune (Sarah), Ruth Juntune, Dave Juntune (Barb), nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joey.
He was a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished grandfather. A quiet and steady presence, Dan was happiest on the water—boating, swimming, and teaching his grandchildren to navigate both rivers and life with care and confidence. He was an avid craftsman, building wooden forts, ships, birdhouses, and doll dressers with his grandchildren—always ready to turn an ordinary day into a lasting memory.
Faith was the foundation of Dan and Betty’s life together. They taught Sunday School, led small groups, and served in church leadership. At home, their deep biblical discussions were both spirited and grounding, a true reflection of Dan’s thoughtful nature.
A funeral service will be held at Lakewood Cemetery, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55408 on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 1:00p.m, with burial at 2:00 p.m. and a reception to follow.
Dan’s life was one of quiet strength, deep faith, and enduring love. He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
