On January 19, 2016, Dorothy Hurt stepped from life to Everlasting Life at the age of 91. Her life was fruitful, filled with family and service to others. Dorothy was a dedicated nurse giving care to the elderly throughout her career. Even as a patient in a nursing home, she remembered her career and often "made her rounds" checking on other patients and helping the nurses at the care center where she lived. A very goal oriented person, Dorothy completed a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. As a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, Dorothy provided love, support, guidance and wisdom to her family and was considered the family matriarch. Although Dorothy did not keep pets herself, she loved animals and was very attached to her daughter's dogs. Dorothy enjoyed baking and her bread pudding was legendary. We will miss her presence, but celebrate her life! Dorothy is preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Sullivan and Ethel McGraw, her son Michael Hurt, as well as seven brothers and sisters. She will be remembered and cherished by her surviving daughter, Patricia Brady, her grandchildren, DonnaRenee Cook, Frank Brady, Keynna Hurt, Sheena Davis, Mikale Hurt, her daughter-in-law Lynn Hurt. Additionally, she is considered a second mother by her nieces and nephews; Sullivan and Jacqueline McGraw, Wilbert and Joyce McGraw, Marvin and Debbie McGraw, Toni McGraw, Kenneth and Gail McGraw, Darryl and Linda McGraw. Memorial service 1 PM Friday 1/29/16 at Wulff Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr, Woodbury with a visitation 1 hour prior.
