

Passed away peacefully on August 26, 2015 at Cerenity Senior Care - Marian of St Paul where she had lived for the past 19 months. Edith was born November 23, 1913 on the family farm in Woodbury, Minnesota to Frank F. and Adeline Katherine Luchsinger Flohr. She is survived by her sister, Leona Town, and fifteen nieces and nephews and their families. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Clinton, Allen, Milton and Leonard; and her sister Violet. Edith attended grade school in a one room schoolhouse and then worked several jobs in order to earn money to attend Rasmussen Business School in St Paul where she was on the honor roll. She worked for the American National Bank (now US Bank) in St Paul for nearly 40 years. Starting as a teller, Edith was soon promoted into the Investment Department dealing with bonds and securities. She was a member of the Twin Cities Investment Women's Club, played glockenspiel in the bank's Drum and Bugle Corps, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and attended Cleveland Avenue United Methodist Church. Edith enjoyed volunteer work with her church, the Red Cross Blood mobile, and teaching English to Hmong children. She was active in the Highland Leisure Age Center at Gloria Dei in St Paul until moving to assisted living at Cerenity Residence - Humboldt. Edith enjoyed arts & crafts (especially ceramics), exercise classes and reading biographies. Her optimistic, generous and gracious manner is an inspiration to many. Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Saturday October 17, 2015 at Fairmount Avenue United Methodist Church, 1523 Fairmount Avenue in St. Paul. Light lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers and/or memorials, Edith would simply like you to help another person in need.
