Harry grew up during World War II in Lauban Germany, which influenced his strong work ethic and interest in engineering. After completing his Engineering Masters degree, Harry traveled the world working for boiler mfg. co’s, repairing and running boiler plants. While in Finland, Harry met the love of his life, Ilmi, they married in 1962, moved to Germany, had two sons, and he started working for 3M as Plant Safety Director. In 1974, Harry (and family) moved from Germany to the United Stated where he joined the 3M Corporate Safety Dept. Over Harry’s 30 year 3M career, he held various Safety Dept. positions, retiring as Safety Mgr. Int’l Operations.
Harry (and Ilmi) loved spending time with family, friends, extensive international travel, and attending and becoming St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Benefactors. Harry enjoyed using his engineering skills for home improvement projects and spending time relaxing in his beautifully landscaped backyard. Harry reveled in showing friends and neighbors his many world travel souvenirs, each of which had an interesting story.
A private Celebration of Life will be held by the family later this year. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Therese of Woodbury Charitable Foundation (www.donate.sttheresemn.org).
