Dad it took me a bit to write to you. Being the youngest of 7 kids and having 5 years between the next to me I tagged along with you and Mom a lot and I loved it. I have to start out saying how selfless you and Mom were. I remember you working rotating shifts so I wouldn't see you for a few days but we would always write a note to each other. I was pal you were buddy. I looked forward to those notes. You were my coach, my mentor,  my everything. You just don't know the impact you had on our lives. I remember you telling me it doesn't matter if your man or woman if you work hard you can do anything. I was in many sporting events and even though you and Mom had 6 other kids you guys made it to my games. You drove us everywhere and drove all our friends around. You and mom brought us on family vacations every year, no matter what. I don't remember hearing you complain. You never made us feel like we bothered you nor asked a dumb question like how do you spell poop and you just told me how to spell it and that was it 😄. I could go on and on with endless examples of what a strong, beautiful human you were. I know your happy with mom and family now. Until I see you again I love you and miss you terribly.


Well dad you got a nice send off.  We all love you and will miss you greatly.  Mom was the heart of the family you were everything to us.  Say hi to mom and we will meet again some day.     Love Julie

Pops your soul exuded goodness, kindness and love. Your humor, love and goodness was evident. I hoped to have more time with you to experience you. We did, however, enjoy our brief time with you, along with the cake you and Mom sent over. We shall meet again. Condolences to the family. Cassie, Carl Frank and Bertha.

Dad you and mom are the biggest part of my life.  You have always been there for me.  When I was young you came to my basketball and softball games.  You even gave my friends and I rides to the games.  I'm sure you were tired many times but you were there.  I also remember when I had my car accident you came and picked me up.  I was upset and worried about my car and wondering if my insurance would cost more.  You turned to me and told me not to make myself sick over something I cannot control.  Your advise to me has always stayed with me.  I have been blessed to have you in my life.  You are the best and I love you.   Julie

Great Great Grandpa Olson,
The time we had together wasn't very long, but they were the greatest times. Thank you for caring for me & loving me so much. You & Great Great Grandma get to watch me grow up into a young man & I'm so happy about that! You will always be with me through all my milestones I'll achieve in life and I know you all will be so proud of me! I love you both so much. ❤️

Great Grandpa Olson,
I miss you so much.. You were & still are everything to this family. I'm so honored to have called you my great grandfather & to be apart of your family. You have definitely left an impression on every single one of us. You are just the greatest human ever & I'm so sad that you are gone, but I know where your heart belongs too & that's Great Grandma. I miss you both so much, but I know your looking down at everyone of us. I love you, forever & always. ❤️

My favorite memory was going to my great grandparents house on Halloween to get special candy bags. Grandpa always said he cant wait to see me play sports on tv one day. Now grandpa you will have the best seat in the house to cheer me on.  Love Jayden 

I will miss the man who set the foundation  for everyone to follow, the man who never missed an important event, and the most humble man in the room. You are the only man who can get my mom to listen, and the only 90 year old i know who did leg lifts. Watch over us grandpa. Love you Tammy

I have some wonderful found memories with you.
One of my favorite's is when you took us kids on a family picnic. 
We stopped at White Castle on the way and got some sliders and fries,  went to Como Park picnic area, ate our food, then you let us run around to burn off some energy.  While mom was at home cleaning and preparing the next meal with some down time to herself.  Even though Dad worked all day at 3M, he came home and helped mom after. His day was never done and he enjoyed it. He would spend time with mom and us kids until it was time for bed.  Memories are forever Dad and I will always keep them close to my heart! God bless you mom and dad.  You are forever in our hearts.



He was my great grandpa. Everytime I would go to his house he would always tell me how talented I was going to be, even when I was really young. He always would ask me about all the things I'm doing and would always be proud of my accomplishments. I love you forever, thank you grandpa.

Grampie and Grammie, I know you have now reunited, and I want you both to know that I love you always and forever, thank you for caring for and watching over me all my life and being the best grandparents anyone could ask for!! ❤ I love you!!! I know this goodbye is only temporary, and we will all meet again :) Grandpa thank you for all the trips to "Bur Bur King" and walks to Dairy Queen when I was little. I will always remember you volunteering St Pat's when I was in grade school, talking with Sister, showing up to my class, and picking me up from school (w/ WCCO on). Also thank you for letting me put hair binders in your hair when you and grammie babysat, I knew it wasn't your thing lol. I will always remember your Navy stories, watching Jeopardy and most importantly your sound advice. I am so happy both of you are in paradise!! You have earned your wings 😀!! You told me a couple months ago if you could be back on the golf course again you would, well I'm pretty sure there must be at least a few golden golf courses up there, if you haven't checked them out yet u should. Love you guys, until we meet again!! ❤ P.S. Please say hi to my dad up there and make sure he is behaving lol 😆 😄 Love you!!



Grandpa, you did so much for me and you were always there for me when needed.  I remember when you picked me up from school and I would run to the balcony at Trinity Catholic to make sure you were there. I was so excited to see you every time. I miss you but I know you’re with grandma and in paradise. Love you grandpa.

Dad you were my rock my pride and joy. When I was down you were always there. You worked endless hours at 3M to make sure mom and all of us had everything. You taught me such a strong work ethic that I carry today. I feel so blessed Mitchell Molly and myself were with you holding you when you passed. I know you and mom are very happy right now. Pray for all of us daddy. Love you so much. 

Grandpa was hard-working, creative, tough, honest, loyal, and loved his family. His witty dry humor will be tremendously missed.  Gramps, when I see you on the other side I trust you will greet me with that big old smirky smile and something smart (alecky)  to say.  We love you.

My father-in-law and best friend. I always enjoyed our conversations.  You always listened to my opinions regardless if they were right or wrong. I am going to miss our garage visits when we would discuss sports, the navy and stories about your life growing up. You are now with the love of your life and the mother of your seven children. When Arlene saw you did she say "Herb"!!!  Rest in peace my friend, love you  Tom.

I always looked up to you grandpa, and felt safe in knowing that we had you in our life! You always had a great story to tell me, if that was a story from when you met grandma, about the war or catching my mom from sneaking out of the house. I remember every Veterans Day…you always came to my school and stood on stage with all the other vets and the entire school who honored all of you. You never missed one vets day at my elementary school. I remember telling people “that’s my grandpa up there.” You always had a funny story and your laugh was the best. I know your with grandma now and finally came home to her. Tell her hi for me and I know your watching over all of us! Love you forever, miss you so much❤️

Grandpa, it is definitely not a time for sorrow. It is a time for happiness and gratitude. Happiness that you get to be with Grandma that we know you missed and loved very much. Most of all gratitude; gratitude for the example you set, for the type of man that you were, and for the love that was shared. You will be missed by all, but we have unlimited amounts of memories to share with each other. Thanks for having a big influence on my life; it was appreciated more than you will ever know...Thanks for everything!!!


Attitude is everything. Thanks for showing me what that means. The first time we met I remember asking how you can bowl and golf three times a week, thinking you were an older man. I quickly realized you were not older but wiser. I will remember your response about being active for ever. You said attitude is everything. If you think you can’t do something, you won’t. If you think you can, you will!  I will miss your advise and witty yet loving conversations. 



Grandpa, I am deeply going to miss you. I am very honored to say you were my grandfather. You were always very wise and loving. I will miss your smile. I Love You and know you will be watching over all of us. 

I can't believe the time has come where we have to say goodbye to a very wise and loving man. 
The Lord was ready to have one of his most precious angels back home and grandma has spent enough time without the love of her life by her side. 
Grandpa you are very loved by all and will be deeply missed. I love you very much and tell grandma hi for me and that I love and miss her too.

My condolences to the entire Olson family.  Herb & Arlene's house was my home away from home.  I remember Herb's workshop in the basement where he was always tinkering or fixing something! And If I remember correctly, he was also quite an artist.  I also remember being at some of your extended family parties. The sound of Herb & Uncle Howard laughing together was amazing and their laughter was contagious.  Hoping happy memories surround you all at this difficult time.

I am so grateful that I had the last year and a half to get to know my dad all over again.  My husband Tom and I had many wonderful conversations with him. Dad was a talented hard working man and his family will miss him dearly. I love you dad , rest in peace.  Your daughter Linda Tourville.

Dad will be missed by his children, many grandkids, great grandkids, and one great great grandson  and many many friends and family.
