Jack was born on April 22, 1934, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, where he was raised by his mother Irene Anderson. From an early age, Jack developed a love for music, electronics, and understanding how things worked. He played trumpet in local bands while growing up and later graduated from Brown Institute with a degree in electronics.
Jack proudly served in the United States Army, where he continued developing his passion for electronics and technology. Following his military service, he worked at small radio and television stations in Michigan before beginning a career with Collins Radio Company and later Sperry Univac, where he worked in electronics and defense systems.
In 1967, Jack and his beloved wife, Lois Anderson (Carlson) moved to Woodbury, Minnesota, where they built their family home and raised their children together. There, Jack fostered a strong family environment, spending countless hours attending Kim’s dance recitals and Brad’s hockey games. He also served for several years as President of the Woodbury Area Hockey Club. Jack and Lois built many lifelong friendships through the Royal Oaks neighborhood and throughout the Woodbury community, while also maintaining numerous close friendships and family connections back in Wisconsin.
Jack greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, Aidan Carlson and Kevin Carlson, building engines, radios, and other electronic projects together. He also loved attending their baseball games, soccer matches, and tennis events, and he tried not to miss any of the boys’ games or matches whenever possible.
Following the passing of his wife Lois, Jack was fortunate to find companionship again with Joan Eggert. The two shared many years together filled with friendship, support, travel, conversation, and caring for one another. Joan brought comfort and happiness to Jack during the later years of his life, and their time together was deeply meaningful to both.
Anyone who knew Jack knew of his lifelong love for fixing, building, and tinkering with radios, televisions, and electronics of all kinds. His workbench was rarely empty, and boxes of transistors, wires, and parts were never far away. Jack also enjoyed spending time walking at the Bielenberg Sports Center in Woodbury until declining health no longer allowed him to do so.
Jack enjoyed spending time with family and loved ones, and he had a special place in his heart for his son-in-law, Mike and daughter-in-law, Linda, or better known to him as “Mrs. Anderson.”
Jack also had a tremendous love for animals, especially dogs. Over the years he had many loyal and lovable companions that brought him great happiness, and he cherished every one of them.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Anderson; his wife, Lois Anderson (Carlson); his brothers, Dan Anderson and Jon Anderson; his sister-in-law, Barb Anderson; his brother-in-law, Roger Boben; his sister-in-law, Doris Carlson; his brother-in-law Jim Carlson; and brother-in-law Gerald Park.
