Ordained minister of 36 years and 17 year survivor of liver transplant, James passed away peacefully at his home in Woodbury, MN. James was born and raised in St. Paul and served his country honorably in the US Navy. He was a carpenter foreman for 14 years at McGough Construction and attended Augsburg College and graduated from Luther Theological Seminary with a Masters in Divinity. His first parish was Christ Lutheran, Neche, ND and he also served at Calvary Lutheran, Omaha NE; Trinity Lutheran, Yankton SD; Grace Lutheran, Parker SD; Bethany Lutheran, Hurley, SD and Faith Lutheran, Haines City, FL. He was one of 6 sons born to the late Joseph and Dorothy Schwartz and was the beloved husband of Janet Moore for over 50 years. James was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph and his dear daughter, Sarah and will forever be remembered by his brothers Roger, Gary, Gen. Thomas Schwartz and Billy; beloved children, James Jr., Kim, John (Rae), Kara and Keke (Brian); treasured 13 grandchildren and 2 great grand-children, along with countless other friends whom were blessed to know him. Through his love for Jesus, James touched the lives of many people with his faith and his gift of sharing the gospel. Friends and family are invited to attend a Visitation on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 2-5pm at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr., Woodbury. The memorial service will take place on Monday, February 21, 2011 at Shepherd of the Valley, 14107 Hudson Road S., Afton at 11:00 am Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Tuesday 10am.
