Jan’s last day was surrounded by family and friends from across the Midwest and reflected the love she provided to so many during her life.
Jan was born in Moline, Illinois on May 1, 1941 to parents Ed and Edith Walther. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, David Roseen and her three children, Jennifer Bollom, Randy Roseen and Ted Roseen. Her brother, Richard, and her sister, Nancy, passed away before her. She loved her family and spent time with her 5 grand children (Ethan, Ainsley, Noah, Grace & Arlo) and the latest sparkle in her eye, Beckett her great-grandson.
Jan was active and engaged through her life in many endeavors. She worked as a pharmacy technician, a dental assistant and at a pre-school for developmentally challenged children. She was quick to share stories and her learnings from each of these impactful roles with her family in family gatherings year around.
Jan was engaged and provided leadership in key areas of passion for her. Church leadership roles, PEO, 4H cooking instructor, the Dames of University of Wisconsin, PTA and being an elected member of the Red Wing School Board all reflected her desire to give back to the communities she lived in. Her tireless school board work resulted in the development and building of the new Red Wing High School that opened in 1995.
Her family benefitted from her passion of family first. She was a great stay at home mom that had passion for every area of the kitchen. She was gourmet and helped establish several gourmet dinner groups that built lifelong friendships that remain connected today from all parts of the country. She advanced that skill and passion to creating her own Peanut Brittle and Candy business that continues to thrive today through the work she did to pass it down to her daughter and granddaughter. While doing all that, she still had time to stay active through her various walking groups, investment/stock clubs and a curling club.
Over the last years of her life, she benefited from the outstanding care and love provided by the great staff at St. Therese Long Term Care in Woodbury. Their love and care carried her forward in so many different ways. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that you make a donation to the long term care unit of St. Therese of Woodbury or King of Kings Lutheran Church.
A celebration of Jan’s life will be held on Thursday, June 12 at Kings of Kings Church in Woodbury, MN. A visitation will begin at 10AM, followed by an 11AM service.
The service will be available to view via livestream at www.kingofkingswoodbury.org under the Worship Online button.
