Kevin will clearly be remembered for his brilliance. He was a dedicated public servant who touched so many lives throughout his career. He has personally shaped how taxes are handled in Minnesota in ways that most people in this state will never know. He leaves behind an incredible legacy that his family should be extremely proud of. I'm proud to have been able to serve the state by his side for a short time. 

I'll personally remember him for his patience. He had an incredible tolerance for taking the time to explain, then re-explain, then use different analogies, then explain again to people like me that just didn't understand taxes. I'll remember his kindness and empathy. I'll remember that he refused to be anyone but himself. Kevin, you'll be missed.

Kevin, so sad to hear about your passing.  From our early friendship in high school- where you taught me so many things, especially about music, as I knew very little to our incredibly fun filled years at Stout, where we learned to be young men, you were always such a great friend.  We had some outstanding experiences growing up, including many Packer games in Green Bay while staying at your sister’s place, missing a cancelled Eric Clapton concert while discovering a robber at your sister’s apartment, canoeing the Flambeau River - one year way too early,  hosting Champagne Jam Parties, running Ice Softball tournaments,  pledging the KLB’s and later making our frat so popular at Stout.  Those years were so much fun, and I’m so glad we got to spend them together as great friends.  We both went our separate ways with jobs, and stood up for each other at our weddings.  But as often happens, life got busy with families and kids, and unfortunately we lost touch with each other over the years- and I’m so sad I let that happen.  So, I’ll catch up with you on the other side where we’ll kick around these memories and laugh, laugh, laugh.  You left us too soon, my friend.  Rest in peace.

Mary and I offer our most sincere condolences on the passing of Kevin. Although we hadn't stayed very much in touch since college, Kevin and I were great friends in New Richmond and, later, roommates and fraternity brothers at UW-Stout. I dug up 5 old pictures of High School, College, canoeing together, and summer Jellystone camping trip. Luckly we had a chance to talk in mid november. I remember many good times of sleepovers at his home growing up by the Catholic School and the great times in college are too numerous to mention.

I knew Kevin while working for the state economist at Minnesota Management and Budget, forecasting income tax revenues. Kevin’s team provided us weekly with reports on tax returns that had been processed. On many occasions at our request Kevin went above and beyond his normal responsibilities to provide us with information on returns yet to be processed, we greatly appreciated his efforts. I last met with him virtually in early November and he said he was looking forward to retiring in the Spring. So, I was very surprised and saddened when I learned of his death.  He leaves big shoes to be filled. My condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and especially his two children of whom he spoke highly.

The Village has lost Our Kevin, and what a huge loss it is.   
You were such a huge part of so many things, from decorating a neighbor's lawn, to backyard construction projects (where someone may have offered to hold Jayne's legs so she wouldn't fall), to barbeques or just random summer evenings putting the world right on Jayne's deck, to being treated to your famous pork chop with special sauce,  to learning to play cribbage against you - with Jayne's assistance, of course - yet losing MOST of the time to your expert skill... you could've been a cribbage shark - if that's even a thing... 
Your memory for everything and anything, especially sports statistics, regardless of how obscure, combined with your knowledge of musicals during trivia nights, absolutely blows my mind.  
Birthday celebrations, holidays, movie nights, selecting and listening to music even during serious conversations (i.e. politics/religion/etc.), but most of all, laughter, are all wrapped together in my memories of you.  Each of my pooches were drawn to you, even those who were the most "people selective".  You always brought such wit, integrity, humor and a quiet strength to  every encounter.     Everyone who knew you witnessed the love you had for Jayne, Alison (Mick) and Aaron, and your devotion to them.  You are missed.  Cheers (with Whiskey) to you, my friend.

Kevin was one of the most chill people I’ve met. His calmness, intelligence and kindness will never be forgotten. I’ll always remember the good times we had sitting on Jayne‘s deck and downstairs. Lots of laughs,  tears and memories. Forever rest in peace Kevin. You will be missed by many.

When Kevin first started at the Revenue Department, he was assigned to work at a desk in front of my desk (we didn’t have individual cubicles in the early 1980’s).  To use our shared telephone, all Kevin needed to do was swing his chair around and pick up the phone sitting on my desk.

Between learning information about each other’s personal lives via a shared telephone 😉, sitting so closely for 8 hours each workday, intermittent carpooling, and being close in age, we quickly became friends.  Our brother/sister relationship created many comical “you had to be there” memories both in and outside of work during the time we worked together in Income Tax and a few years thereafter. 

It came as no shock to me when Kevin and Jayne coupled up with each other - what a great couple they made - two intelligent, logical, quick-witted, mellow, and genuinely nice people.  Happily, I got to interact more with Kevin when Jayne and I became co-workers in 2012.

Kevin’s office in Tax Operations was my final stop before exchanging my badge for retirement.  We recalled old times, talked about the changes we experienced during our careers at Revenue, my early retirement and his looking forward to retiring.  We gave each other a hug as we said what turned out to be our final farewell and he walked with me to HR (on his way to take a break).  

Between retirement and moving 6 hours north of the metro area, I regretfully lost touch with Kevin and 100’s of others with whom I shared many years of endearing co-worker friendships.  My husband and I have respectfully and fondly spoken of Kevin and Jayne many times over the past 6 years – they have remained close in our memories.  

Jayne, words cannot express the sympathy we feel for you.  Your loss is unimaginable to us, and we pray for Jesus to embrace you and carry you through these difficult times.  Our hearts and thoughts are focused on you Jayne.  

Kevin, thank you for over 30 years of friendship.  Rest in peace dear Kevin.

I can't believe you left us so soon. My heart is broken. 
But thank you for being there for my sister all these years. You have been the best person that has ever come into her life! 
I never thought I would say this, but I am really sad that I will never get another letter telling me I messed up my taxes from you! That always made a good story to tell my clients. I am really going to miss you! I hope the "other side" is full of all the peace and happiness that  we were promised. I will see you there! Thanks for being you!  Enjoy your free spirit!

My condolences to Kevin’s family.  Kevin was my leadworker for my first position at the Department of Revenue, so I knew him for my entire career and it was always a pleasure to interact with him.  I remember how proud he was of his children, it was obvious how much he loved them.

Kevin was fun to work with at Revenue.   He always made me laugh.  My sympathies to Jayne and his family.

I first met Kevin working on Re-engineering in the early 1990’s.
After the Re-engineering study was completed, I still kept in touch with Kevin, even though it was just to say hi. Kevin always remember my name,.

Kevin, you were my best friend and my calming presence. You always brought a level head and perseverance to everything we did. I will miss your silly comments, and your quiet ability to point out beauty in simple things. Thank you for letting me have Alison and Aaron and now Mick as part of our life. They reflect you.

So sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing.  We spent our high school summers riding our bikes to Willow River State Park.  He was a caring person then and certain that continued.  Rest in peace my friend.
