Muriel was born on August 29, 1930 in Rock Dell, MN. The daughter of Ruth and Harold Gilbertson. Muriel graduated from Stewartville High School in 1948. She worked in the pediatric unit of Mayo Clinic until marrying Harold A. Sands in 1958. Their daughter Julie was born in 1964. Muriel and Harold lived over 40 years in St. Cloud, MN. Muriel enjoyed her Norwegian heritage and culture, traveling, attending musical performances especially at St. Olaf College and MN Vikings football games.
Muriel was preceded in death by daughter, Julie; husband, Harold; parents, Ruth and Harold; brother; sister-in-law, Edimand and Penny.
She will be remembered for her friendly conversations and her "uff-da" sense of humor.
Private interment will be held at East St. Olaf Cemetery.
