

Otis Maloney Jr arrived on November 24, 1934, in Prescott, Arkansas. The only son of Otis Maloney and Loraine Walker-Maloney. Due to the passing of his mother during childbirth, Otis was raised by his aunt, Addie Mae Maloney-Lawrence, in Detroit, Michigan and joined the US Marine Corps on August 21, 1953. Otis received three medals for his service: National Defense Service, Korean Service and United Nations Service. Otis worked for Dial Corporation for 41 years and retired on March 1, 2000. Otis was baptized on May 4, 2025, by Reverend Stephanie Taylor, whom he affectionately called “Stephi” his bonus daughter through marriage to his beloved wife of 50 years, Lucille Maloney, who preceded him in death on October 25, 2024. Otis’ first child, Glenda Maloney Gordon whom he nick-named “Gee Gee”, continued the Maloney legacy of strong work ethics, following in Otis’ footsteps also retiring with 41 years of service.
Otis was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a history enthusiast, philosopher and especially known for his cooking skills and humor. He also enjoyed reading, listening to jazz and playing his favorite lottery numbers.
Otis is survived by Children: Glenda Maloney-Gordon and stepdaughter Rev. Stephanie Taylor. Grandchildren: Taylor-Nikole Gordon, Tyesen-Alexis Gordon, Derek Bell, Jasmine Bell, Nicholaus Jones, and Naieen Pugh. Great grandchildren: Kayden Bell, Arianna Bell, Nala Bell, Tobias Jones, Alastair Jones, and Lexzandra Jones; Cousins: Glenn Maloney, Karen Maloney, Earl Maloney, David Maloney, Charlene Maloney, and a host of many, many Maloney’s. In Laws: Hortense Williams, Charles G. Mitchell, Cecil Gordon.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at New Perspective Senior Living, Our Lady of Peace and Monroe Village Apartments for their kindness, support and care shown to Otis Maloney Jr during his stay. A very special thanks to Rowlett Friendship Baptist Church, Pastor Alton McKinley and first lady Joyce McKinley for your outpouring of love and traveling from out of state to officiate the service.
