

Shirley was born on December 16, 1942 to Viola (Quarness) Koglin and Emil Koglin of Their River Falls, MN. She was born with a caring soul that she hares with the world, a deplore animals, and a steadfast loyalty to her family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters Heather Lin Blasjo of St. Paul, MN and Heidi Kim Blasjo of St. Paul, MN, her beloved older sister Marian Koglin, Cotati, CA, her beloved little brother Arthur Koglin, West Fargo, ND, 11 nieces, 7 nephews, numerous cousins, and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, Richard Blasjo and her sister Ellen Pearson.
Shirley graduated from Lincoln High School and Bemidji State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. After graduation, her teaching days began in Connecticut. She then spent a 30+year teaching career in the North St. Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale school district. She loved each and every on of her students and made lasting impressions outside of the classroom; many former students. Would stop to say, “Hello, remember me,” Mrs. Blasjo. Shirley also loved her work family and cherished the memories that she made with them throughout the years. Shirley enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed her lunches with the “Neighborhood Ladies” and her breakfasts with her “Eagle Point Retirement Crew”. She enjoyed her downtime spent in nature; taking long walks, watching the water on Carver Lake, feeding the birds and was also very busy taking care of the stray cats in the neighborhood.
Shirley was a beautiful person inside and out who care deeply for the people and animals around her. She made an impact on so many lives. She will be forever missed and always loved.
A Memorial Service for Shirley will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr., Woodbury, MN 55129. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
