

Vida Miles was born July 27, 1925, in Valdasta, Texas. She was the sixth child of eight children of John and Sally Greer. She grew up in the McKinney, TX area and graduated from Merit High School in Merit, TX. Immediately after graduation she moved to Pasadena, CA, to work in a defense plant as “Rosie the Riveter.” She married Feby Lewis Miles in 1944. Lewis was in the US Navy at the time.
After World War II they moved to Borger, TX, where Lewis worked for Phillips Petroleum. Vida attended Borger Business College and worked for many years in the accounting department at the Borger News Herald. In 1965 Lewis and Vida purchased the Sears Roebuck store in Pawhuska, OK. They operated the Sears store until retirement. In 2013 they moved to Presbyterian Homes Stonecrest in Woodbury, MN, to be near their family. She enjoyed her time at Stonecrest where she played cards and bingo with many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, her parents, and her four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Miles Grizzell, son-in-law Paul Grizzell, granddaughter Ashleigh Grizzell and her husband Jeff Grizzell, and grandson Nicholas Grizzell and his wife Sara Baig. She is also survived by her great-grandson Miles Grizzell, who called her GG.
The family is grateful to Vida’s many special friends at Stonecrest and to Stonecrest staff for providing a wonderful living environment. They are also grateful to Allina Health Hospice and Palliative Care for the care provided in Vida’s last months of life.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Visitation one hour prior to service, from 10 - 11 AM at Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Rd., Woodbury, MN 55125. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at church. Private Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
