

Carl Herbert Stascheit passed away in Forest Hills, New York, in the early hours of Saturday morning, January 31, 2026. He was surrounded by members of his church family, who gathered in his hospital room to pray, read Scripture, and sing hymns.
Carl, the only son of Karl Franz Stascheit and Freda Barklage Stascheit, was born on February 5, 1935, in New York City. When he was a child, the Stascheit family moved to Queens, where Carl would live for the rest of his life.
He attended Stuyvesant High School in New York City and completed some college studies locally. Carl worked professionally as a tax accountant for various large corporations in the city, including Colgate-Palmolive and Hanson Industries. Throughout his life, Carl regularly attended Woodside Community Church alongside his mother.
Carl was preceded in death by his father, Karl Franz Stascheit, who passed away in 1959, and by his mother, Freda Stascheit, who passed away in 1993.
He was greatly involved in the leadership and administration of Woodside Community Church, where he faithfully served in many roles over the years, including as a deacon, trustee, treasurer, usher, and greeter.
Carl will be remembered as a soft-spoken, intelligent, faithful, and servant-hearted Christian man, known for his quiet demeanor and genuine love for others. He is survived by his church family at Woodside Community Church, who were a source of fellowship and care throughout his life.
