Doris M. Lyons

Doris M. Lyons of Astoria entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the age of 89. She was born on October 30, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York. Doris graduated from Long Island City High School. She married James J. Lyons on September 4, 1948. Before her retirement, Doris was employed by the City of New York.

Doris was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish and enjoyed reading, music and movies. Doris had a passion for animals, especially her cats.

Doris loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her son Kevin Lyons and his wife Kathy; daughter-in-law Randi Opsahl; six grandchildren Kimberly Lyons, Robert "RJ" Lyons, Kristen Cocchi, Katie Kuck, James Lyons and Tara Lyons; and four great-grandchildren Aria, Aidan, Brendan and Amarandi. Doris also leaves behind many wonderful family members and friends.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband James Lyons, and two sons Robert Lyons and James "Jimmy" Lyons.
