In memory of Eduardo (Eddie) Condoleo, 94, who passed away at Elmhurst Hospital on Thursday, April 3. 2025.
He was born in Rosarno, Calabria, Italy on June 11, 1930, and grew up on a farm, working the land. He tragically lost his father in an accident when he was 8 years old, just before the start of WWII. Wartime was a difficult time in Eddie’s life, but he spoke about his experiences often and shared many stories of what life was like at that time. After the war in 1948, Eddie sailed on a ship to America and made his home in Manhattan. He went on to open his own restaurant in Manhattan called Rapallo for twelve years. He then worked for the Roosevelt Hotel in the hotel restaurant, the Crawdaddy as manager for almost twenty years. Eddie was an avid golfer and enjoyed building things with his hands. After retirement, Eddie and Rita spend their summers enjoying their home in Rocky Point, a place that gave them great joy. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Rita (Guidice) who he married in 1958 and were happily married for 60 years. Eddie is survived by his son Edward Peter, his wife Teresa, daughter Maria, her husband John, and predeceased by his son Anthony. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Olivia, her wife Skylar, Sofia, her husband Matthew, Christina, Dennis and Joanna.
He is predeceased by his parents Domenico Condoleo and Carmela Verra, brothers Dante and Domenico, sisters Concetta and Isabella, is survived by his sister Melina, beloved nieces and nephews and many dear friends whom he treasured throughout his life
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in name of his grandson, Michael Condoleo, to Everas Community Services at Everas.org, an agency providing direct support to individuals in New Jersey with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
