Ich habe von Ed's tot erfahren und hab in diesem Moment an die Hochzeit gedacht. Wir
hatten alle eine super Zeit zusammen und ich werede Ed vermissen, da er ein sehr feiner und
netter Mann war.

Trotz de Entfernung, habe ich ein schlechtes Gewissen, das wir ihm nicht die letzte Ehre
erweisen Konnten. Entschuldigung!!!

I am so sorry to hear the passing of Ed. I first met Ed when I was hired by Sperry in the summer of 1949. He was assigned as my technician.  He was wonderful person, so easy to work with. Within a few months, we both became the founding members of the new Sperry Ski Club., of which there are very few left. A few years ago, before he got married to you, we spent a lot of time together on and off the slopes.  The club then had a lot of activities besides skiing - waterskiing, softball teams, etc.  I sent you a short movie clip of Ed at the lodge, just a couple of minutes long.  Did you ever get a chance to see it?

koennen wir nicht persoenlich Abscheid von ihm nehmen und auch nicht an den Trauerfeierlichkeiten

Ich habe euch und euren, ja auch meinen verlust, nicht vergessen. Jedoch hat es einige Zeit

Stimmte mich sehr traurig und ich habe die Letzten Tage viel ueber ihn und unsere gemeinsame 
Zeit nachgedacht. Vor allem meine insgesamt vier Wochen bei euch zu Besuch, boten mir die Moeglichkeit, 
ihn naeher kennenzulernen. Ich erinnere mich and zahlreiche Gespraeche, herzwaermende Momente 
und bin sehr gluecklich, bin ich im Besitz, vieler Bilder aus unseren gemeinsamen Zeit.
Nun wuenschte ich, koennte ihm die letzte Ehre erweisen, bei seiner Bestattung dabei zu
sein um gemeinsam mit euch zu trauern un Abschied zu nehmen. Ich moechte euch wissen lassen, 
dass ich in Gedanken bei euch bin und euch fuer die naechste Zeit ganz besonders veil kraft wuenschen. 
Moege Onkel Ed in Frieden ruhen und seinen wohl verdienten Platz einnehmen.

I can't express how deeply sad I am for all of us, especially you three at Uncle's passing. I know
in my heart he is with his Mom and Dad. My Dad, Leslie, Claire, and all who are in Paradise. I
hope there is comfort in that for you.  I always loved Uncle for his generous spirit, his dry wit, and 
for spinning, spinning, and spinning all 4 of us kids, because we would laugh so hard and take several
spins each.  Poor Uncle never complained about  being dizzy.  I have always thought Uncle was a brave
man too. I can tell how extremely sorry I am that it appears I will not be able to make it to the funeral - a terrible shame & stain
on me, just because of the "show-must-go-on" nature of my life.  I send you all my love, all my prayers.  I will know the time

On Sunday mornings, as I got to the pew where I sit, I would look around, and Ed was always waving to me from his pew. I will continue to see him there in my mind's eye every Sunday. His presence was such a cheery, nice way to start a Sunday. He will not be forgotten.
