Gloria Laurine Ciolli (née Seale) was born on October 19, 1929 on the island of Barbados, British West Indies. As a young adult, she immigrated to the United States of America and resided in Astoria, NY, where she lived for the remainder of her life. Gloria became a Naturalized US Citizen in 1954.
Gloria also met her husband, Frank D. Ciolli, in Astoria. They were married in April 1951 and enjoyed 59 years together until his passing in 2010.
Gloria raised three children born between 1952 and 1956. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Heffernan, and her husband, Kevin; her son, Peter Ciolli, and his wife, Mina, and their daughter, Kristina. Gloria is also survived by her daughter-in- law, Rachel, who is the widow of her deceased son, Danny Ciolli. Danny and Gloria shared a special bond; his untimely death in 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer left her devastated, as he was her last born, her baby.
Gloria embraced her life as a homemaker. She was most comfortable doing domestic tasks and reigned as the queen of clean. She loved to update her draperies and curtains with the seasons. When Gloria married Frank, she was embraced by a large Italian family. Though not as comfortable cooking as cleaning, she became an excellent cook, specializing in West Indian and Italian dishes. Her husband and children enjoyed a wide variety of foods.
Gloria did escape from her household duties from time to time. She enjoyed trips with neighborhood friends to Atlantic City to spend her stash of quarters at the slot machines. She also enjoyed a couple of Caribbean Cruises and return visits to her beloved Barbados.
Gloria loved animals and cared lovingly for her children’s wide variety of pets. In her senior years she formed a special attachment to her feline companions, Monkey and Scruffy.
Gloria passed away on March 6th after a brief but acute illness at the assisted living center in Astoria where she resided since 2021. She was 94 years of age.
May Gloria now rest in peace and be reunited with her beloved husband, Frank, with her cherished son, Danny, and the many deceased family and friends who graced her life.
