

Our beloved Father, Mr. John Pinckney of Long Island City, New York passed away peacefully at Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens. John was a devoted husband to his now deceased wife Thomasena (Gray) Pinckney.
Mr. Pinckney was born November 10th, 1923 in Summerville, South Carolina to Sam and Catherine Pinckney.
Being as ambitious as he was, he decided to move to New York City for a better life. Shortly after his arrival to the Big Apple, he landed a job at Brookfield Clothing in which, after hard work and dedication, he was able to retire after 40 years. He was known to be a very sharp and dapper gentleman.
John Pinckney was a loving father to his children and their spouses John Pinckney Junior (wife Myrna Pinckney), Leonard Pinckney (wife Connie Stevens-Pinckney), Ena Pinckney, and Jasper Noland; he was predeceased by a daughter Lillian Pinckney.
John Pinckney better known as Granddaddy to his grandchildren leaves behind eight grandsons, five granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. In addition Mr. Pinckney leaves behind a host of loving nieces, and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousin extended family and friends.
John will be forever remembered for his sophisticated style, his charm and wit coupled with a great sense of humor. Those who knew him intimately knew he had a strong sense of values and a very loving heart. Anyone who had the pleasure to be in his presence had the opportunity to bask in his sunshine. He was a wonderful man who lived a long and beautiful life.
