December 16, 1955 – December 21, 2012
RODRIGO “Rocky” A. VICERRA, 57, died in the Grace of our Lord on December 21, 2012 in Mt Sinai Hospital, Queens, New York City. His devoted wife Carrie was at his bedside together with his loving sisters Annie and Boot and protective brother -in –law, Tony.
Rocky was born on December 16, 1955 in Manila, Philippines to Modesto Reyes Vicerra and Julia Morales Amores as the youngest child in a brood of five – Reynaldo (+) ,Antonina, Irene, Roy and Rocky
At the age of 17, Rocky’s family migrated to New York and have since then been residents of Queens, New York.
Rocky had the natural ability to accomplish anything he set his mind to do. He worked in various jobs which included book keeping, working in a shipping company and working in the United Nations Mission.
He loved dancing, bowling, playing badminton and had the innate trait of being able to master a variety of skills. He was the life of the party and had the charm of making anyone –friend or stranger – feel at home. He was everybodys’ friend. He was a sincere man with a golden simple heart always ready to smile and share his life with those around him. Nobody was ever too small or too famous to be Rockys’ friend. His hand was always extended to welcome those around him. Rocky had the gentle countenance of a kind soul always willing to give time to listen to the most sublime event or to the most complicated life problems. His friends included the rich and powerful people as well as the service providers who needed an ear to air their hurts and fears. He was the ”go to” man of the hour. Rockys’ kindness was unparalleled by anyone I have met in my lifetime.
Rocky spent the last nine years of his life in his native Philippines with his wife Carrie.
He loved adventure and had the passion to explore as many of the 7107 islands of the Philippines as he could. His favorite island in the Philippines is the world reknown Boracay Island . He was especially entranced by the serenity and beauty of Boracay Island in the Philippines which is why he and his wife Carrie Legaspi would fly to Boracay at least three times a year. And in between their trips to Boracay, they would be experiencing the wonders of other provinces of the Philippines like Bohol, Camiguin Island, Apo Island, Davao, Bukidnon, General Santos, Legaspi City, Tagaytay City, Naga City, Batangas beaches – Nasugbu, Laiya, Quezon province, Olongapo beaches, Dumaguete and a lot more and Asian countries like Hong Kong, Bangkok, China, Vietnam and European countries and different American states as well.
