Born in Bangalore, India, Jay grew up with his parents, Sosale Ramaswamy Sastry and Sitamma Puttanna, and his three siblings. He earned his medical degree at Bangalore Medical College in 1961 and moved to the United States in 1963. Shortly after, at Elmhurst General Hospital, he met his wife Georgetta, with whom he had two children, Sita and John.
Dr. Jayaram cared for hundreds of patients as a physician for over 50 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed tending to plants, fixing clocks, and eating peanuts. He loved a good joke but not too much laughter, as it leads to crying. To his two granddaughters, Kristen and Jessica, he will always be remembered for his sage advice and shoulder rides.
Love you, Tata, Jay, Dad, Father, Tataman. God Bless.
