

Mrs. Alice Stallings, 95, of Lithonia, Georgia, passed away December 15, 2014. She was born on November 20, 1919 in Carlton, Georgia to the late George and Jewel Cooper. In June of 1941, Alice married James Stalling. Shortly after their marriage, James had to leave to serve in the military during WWII. During this time, Alice started working as a hair dresser in her own beauty shop in Conyers, Georgia. When James returned home, they moved to Lithonia where she opened Nifty Beauty Shop. Alice was given an award by Max Cleland for owning a business with the same name and address in Lithonia for 50 years. After retirement, Alice was the hair dresser at Yellow Brick House, where she later became a resident. Alice was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lithonia, the WMU, the Lithonia Woman’s Club and the Young at Heart. She was very caring, civic minded and had a big heart. Alice would open her home to those in need and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Stallings and brothers, Jack, Cooper, David and Smitty Cooper. Alice is survived by her sons, George Stallings and his wife Teresa and John Stallings, grandsons, Warren and Steven Stallings, sister, Margaret Bullard and several beloved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Lithonia, 6616 Hillandale Drive, Lithonia, Georgia 30058. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Lithonia, PO Box 378, Lithonia, Georgia 30058.
