Betty was born in Pleasant City, Ohio, the youngest of 13 children born to George and Mary Spisak. Betty grew up on a farm, learning to plow fields, garden, and care for animals with her siblings. The farm life and her childhood helped shape Betty into the loving, giving, incredible woman that she was.
Betty attended St. Peter & Paul Slovak Lutheran Church in Lorain, OH. She was in the same confirmation class and youth group with her friend, later to be husband, Daniel Lovich. Betty and Daniel both graduated from Elyria High School in 1943. Shortly after, Daniel enlisted in the Navy, and upon his return, they began dating and later married on June 12, 1948. They had two beautiful children, David and Donna.
Betty was a wonderful homemaker. Her meticulous, detailed nature made her a talented seamstress, sewing the family’s clothes, curtains, and other linens on which she stitched exquisite embroidery. She was a fabulous cook who mastered numerous recipes, including traditional Slovak dishes such as kolach and stuffed cabbage. Betty’s famous empire biscuit cookies were a family favorite, shared during the holidays.
Upon moving to Georgia, Betty became a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, participating in numerous bible studies, becoming a member of the “Young at Hearts,” and continuously serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with her time, talents, and gifts.
Betty had a generous soul, a kind heart, and a gentle way of brightening your day with her contagious laugh, warm smile, or with a loving hug. Her favorite thing was spending time with her family. Whether it was traveling long distances to the Holy Land or sitting around a local dinner table for a celebratory meal, Betty lived for her family, especially her five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Betty will truly be missed but never forgotten.
Betty is survived by sister-in-law, Martha Mary Lovich of Marietta, GA; daughter-in-law, Dainty Wood Lovich of Roswell, GA; granddaughter, Deidre (husband Bryce) Bennett and great grandchildren, Alana and Mason of Marietta, GA; her grandson, Darren (wife Rebekah) Lovich and great granddaughter, Madelyn of Marietta, GA; her son-in-law, Rev.
