Gene was born in Stanford Kentucky on February 5,1942 to the late Vernon Edward And Zola (Cummins) Faulkner. He sadly passed away in Georgia on December 22, 2018 at the young age of 76.
After a lifetime career in television broadcasting that took him from Pago Pago, American Samoa to Atlanta, Georgia, Gene retired in 2007 as Director of Engineering from WSB-TV (Cox Media Group).
Gene loved the simple pleasures in life. He grilled with abandon utilizing his varied assortment of electronic and infrared thermometers, he flew his faithful drone (losing or crashing a couple along the way), and he joyfully spent time with family and friends laughing at an inappropriate joke or two.
An amazing husband and father, he found his true calling as "Papa" to his five grandkids. He was a super-hero without a cape, a generous and often over spender of gifts and an expert in children's toy shopping.
We love and miss you desperately and know that you'll be watching over us (either in spirit or with a drone). Rest in peace knowing that you were deeply loved.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Selina (nee Godinet), daughters Tammy Faulkner and Wanda (Henrik) Nielsen, son Gary (Lauren) Faulkner, brothers David (Rita) Faulkner and Roy (Cathie) Faulkner, sister Ruth (Jim Sims) Faulkner, step-sisters Wanda (Jack) Withrow, Becky (Johnny) Cooper and grandchildren Aislyn, Tyler, Chloe, Harper and Everly.
A Celebration of Gene's life is being planned for February 2019 (more details to follow).
