

Mr. Horace “Gil” Maddox, 72, of Acworth, GA passed away July 12, 2015. Gil was born on May 11, 1943 in Scottdale, GA to the late Horace and Edna Maddox. When Gil was in 11th grade, he joined the U.S. Army. Gil served one tour in Vietnam, three in Korea and two in Germany. He honorably retired in 1985 as a CWO4. After retirement, Gil worked for ABSA Maintenance at Hartfield-Jackson Airport for 10 years and Advanced Auto Care for 8 years. Never one to sit still, Gil also enjoyed restoring old cars, hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be immensely missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Maddox. Gil leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Margaret Maddox, sons, David Maddox and wife, Cindy and Don Maddox and wife, Dee, grandchildren, Aaron Maddox, Lizzie Maddox, Oran Maddox, Alan Bennett and Victoria Bennett, brothers, Bill, Donny, Robert and Sonny Brown and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, July 17, 2015 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from 6-8pm and Thursday from 9am-8pm.
