Heather Ray Sloan

Heather graduated from Palmdale High School, where she played many sports. She was on the swim team and was a Captain of the tennis team. After high school, she attended Antelope Valley College before joining the Army. January 6, 1998 she joined the Army and was in the medical field. While active in the military, she continued her academics towards medical engineering. Her academics supersede her medallions, ribbons and badges. Heather received her Associates Degree at Los Angeles Valley College.

On June 1st, 2001, Heather was discharged from the Army and obtained a job at the V.A. Hospital, where she later retired from. She had a heart for people and loved being a nurse. She also enjoyed painting, traveling and being active outside.

Carol Stafford and Heather were together for 10 plus years prior to being married on August 9th, 2013 and had spent many wonderful years together. Her family, who was in California and Iowa, was very important to her. They were very loving, caring and accepting to her way of life.

She is survived by her wife, Carol Stafford; parents, Dennis and Carla Sloan; brother, Scott Sloan; sister, Janae; and many loving and caring uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Humane Society Foundation or to the Epilepsy Foundation.
