James grew up in northern Kentucky, where he went to Newport Catholic High School. As a natural athlete, he played basketball there and obtained a basketball scholarship to St. Joseph College in Indiana. James taught at Newport Catholic High and later at St. Bernard grade school in Dayton, KY. He later moved to Chicago with his wife, Marlene and worked for American Airlines. He was later promoted to regional manager and moved to Atlanta. James also had a successful career in the gift industry for many years.
Mr. Nicolletta had a passion for music. He was a talented musician in The Rhythm Raiders and he loved playing and listening to the Blues.
James has been reunited with his sister, Peggy Nicolletta, and parents, Virginia and Nicholas Nicolletta.
He leaves to cherish in his memory, wife of 48 years, Marlene (Skoog) Nicolletta; sons, Jeff Nicolletta and his wife Lindsey, Jay Nicolletta; daughter, Angie Nicolletta; beloved grandchildren, Anne Nicolletta, Sienna Nicolletta; and sisters, Jane Nicolletta and her husband, James Spurlock, Elaine Nicolletta and her husband Audie Smith. James also leaves behind many loved ones nieces and nephews and cherished friends. James was also an animal lover, he leaves behind his 3 dogs Buddy, Missy and Magnus.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, June 18th, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Woodstock Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home. A catered reception will be held at Woodstock Funeral Home after services.
