

Mr. James Frank Townsend, Jr., 91, of Marietta, GA went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Easter, March 27, 2016. James was born on September 2, 1924 in Collinwood, TN to the late James and Leona Townsend. After high school, James attended Tennessee Wesleyan College. For 63 years, James was the owner and operator of Townsend Income Tax and Accounting Service, a family business in which his daughter and grandson have followed suit. He was an active member at the 1st Baptist Church of Atlanta for 43 years. James loved to spend time with his family going on trips, going to ballgames, or just going out to eat. He was a loving husband and father and a proud and doting grandfather. He made many friends through out his life, and even while he suffered from Alzheimer's disease, he never forgot any of them. James was a wonderful man and will be missed by many. James leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Roberta Townsend, daughters, Lisa Blackburn (Andy) and Sherry James (Reg), grandsons, Kyle Blackburn, Cory Blackburn, Reggie James and Robbie James and family friend, Sam Blackburn. A memorial service to celebrate James' life will be Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 3:00pm at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 850 Mount Vernon Hwy., Sandy Spring, GA 30327.
