Janet, born on Nov. 20, 1950 to Imogene and Albert Douglas in St. Petersburg, immediately brought joy and laughter into the world. After graduating high school in 1968, Janet went on to pursue a nursing career where she spent decades providing compassionate care to those in need.
She was married to the love of her life, Roy Owings, for 52 years. Family came first and was above all else to Janet, a value she instilled in all those around her. She was also committed to the Episcopal Church and loyal member of St. Clement's in Canton, Ga.
Janet is survived by her husband, Roy; her three children: son Patrick Owings of Tampa, Fla. (partner of Thomas Butler), and daughters Natalie Croft (wife of Patrick Croft) of Canton, and Jennifer Unterreiner (wife of Rob Unterreiner) of White, Ga; four grandchildren: Casey and Claire Croft, and Hunter and Liam Unterreiner; sister, Virginia Douglas Clarihew (widow of Robert Clarihew) of Seminole, Fla; brother, Donald Douglas (husband of Peggy Douglas) of Windsor, Colo; and several nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her father Albert M. Douglas, mother, Imogene Reed Douglas Suiter, and her mother-in-law, Dorothy A. Sterbenz Owings.
A celebration of life service is planned for Saturday, March 5, at 11:00 am, at St. Clement’s at 2795 Ridge Rd. in Canton.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.woodstockfuneralhome.com for the Owings family.
