Joann Marie Callahan, age 83, of Canton, Georgia, formerly of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Joann was a beloved member of Our Lady of La Salette Catholic Church and was a retired middle school teacher of 35+ years at the Catholic Diocese of West Palm Beach. She enjoyed crafting, making jewelry, bird watching and various other programs at Grandview Nursing Home in Jasper, Georgia where she resided. Joann was well loved and a true confidant for many of the residents there; she was a people person and always put family first. Joann is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Marian Mikill, and her husband, Leo D. Callahan. Survivors include her siblings, Angela (Clive) Owen of Baltimore, Maryland, Barbara (William) Connors of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Carol (Robert) Seguin of Canton, Georgia, and Frederick (Pamela) Mikill of Metairie, Louisiana; 8 nieces and nephews; and 18 great nieces and great nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, June 29, 2018 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Our Lady of La Salette Catholic Church 2941 Sam Nelson Road Canton, Georgia 30114. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM with Father Victor Reyes officiating. Joann will be laid to rest with her late husband at the Georgia National Cemetery following her services.
