Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Florence Sobczak, Joe grew up with a passion for sports, playing both football and baseball through high school and college. His talent and dedication earned him numerous awards and honors over the years, including his induction into the Carthage College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994—a lasting tribute to his athleticism, perseverance, and commitment to the game.
Joe built a fulfilling career with OMC/Evinrude, and in retirement, he and his beloved wife, Donna, enjoyed many joyful years in Charleston, South Carolina. There, they cherished time with family and grandchildren, embraced a slower pace of life, and created memories that will be treasured forever.
A man of quiet talents and simple joys, Joe loved crafting furniture in his garage, fixing things around the house, tending his garden, and fishing. Above all, his heart belonged to his family. He was devoted to his wife of 55 years, his high school sweetheart, Donna, and took immense pride in his children—Tina Boyd (Kevin), Tammy Biles (Marshal), and Joey Sobczak (Emily)—and his seven grandchildren: Allyson Harris, Justin Boyd, Hailey Biles, Lily Biles, Hannah Sobczak, Lucy Sobczak, and David Sobczak.
Joe is also survived by his sisters, Judy Persick, Cathy Kosler, Karen Cutts, Joanie Neri (Robert), Sue Timmer (Steve), and Patty Reinke (Jay); his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Robert Algrin, Noreen Pineau, and Linda Motto; and a cherished extended family of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188, US, on April 14, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A Funeral will take place immediately following in the chapel at Woodstock Funeral Home at 5:00 pm.
Family and friends are invited to stay after the service for a reception at Woodstock Funeral Home, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
He lived a beautiful life as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Joe Sobczak will be remembered for his steady kindness, quiet strength, and the love he gave so generously to everyone around him. He was deeply loved, will be greatly missed, and forever remembered.
