Linda Marie Hamm, 73, of Woodstock, Georgia entered her eternal life with the Lord on January 29, 2026 after a short but fierce battle with cancer. Linda was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 9, 1952 to her late parents George and Florence Wack. She is lovingly survived by her family: son Gregory Hamm and wife Alexandra, daughter Kristina Hamm, grandson Robert Hamm, sister Florence Purdy, and nieces and nephews Kim, Aldo, Karina and Aldo, Jr. Vega.
Linda spent her childhood years growing up in Brooklyn and Queens, NY where she would recount stories of hot summers playing jacks on their apartment stoop, double-dutching with friends or dancing in the streets to “Locomotion” on the radio. In her teenage years Linda moved to upstate New York where she graduated from Rhinebeck High School. Before ultimately marrying and starting a family, Linda worked in banking in New York City. Years later she discovered her passion and gift for the artistry of floral design. It was as if the flowers themselves were paint brushes handed to her by God himself. Her most fulfilling job as a florist was creating thousands of beautiful bouquets and arrangements for patients and employees for special events at Northside Hospital over a period of twenty plus years.
Linda, along with her former husband Jeffrey and their children, lived in many states: Virginia, Mississippi, Ohio, Utah, Tennessee, Georgia, and Washington. She enjoyed traveling and seeing many places over the country, especially Las Vegas, San Francisco and Yellowstone. Linda was a fiercely loving mother to her children Gregory and Kristina. Her devotion and joy in raising them came effortlessly, and she would always proclaim that being a mother was her greatest achievement in life. She enjoyed sharing her love of cooking, crafting, gardening and Braves baseball, as well as her enthusiasm of an impromptu dance party in the living room with those she loved.
Linda always loved and looked out for her children’s friends, affectionately becoming forever known as everyone’s “Momma Lou”. She held an immense deep love and affection for her grandson Robbie, whom she just adored. She loved taking him to the park to feed the ducks, blowing bubbles while playing in her garden, and making blueberry pancakes, all the while wearing silly hats and sunglasses. She was so proud to be his dear “Lu Lu”. Her joy for life and living every day to the fullest was infectious to her family and all her friends who are left to cherish her memory. Linda was kind to others and enjoyed making any person she met smile by paying them a compliment. She would say “turn a frown upside down and it’s a smile!” and surrounded herself with positive people with positive vibrations. Linda loved to be fun and lighthearted and used any opportunity to wear goofy holiday costumes (especially her favorite Christmas elf outfit!) She found beauty in the mundane. We will never forget her beautiful smile and her heart of gold.
Linda was a woman of boundless love and energy with faith deeply rooted in the Lord. Her soul is now an angel looking over us from Heaven. Jesus has welcomed her home. She will be greatly missed by all those that called her family, friend or simply Momma Lou. A Celebration of Life Garden Party to honor her memory will be set in Georgia for April 2026.
