
Jim was born October 3rd, 1934, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the son of Burdette Fisher and Marjorie Benson. He was a graduate of Waukegan High School in Waukegan, Illinois. He proudly served his country for 3 years in the U.S. Army and spent time overseas. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 4 in Lakeland, FL, where he frequently socialized with other patriots and participated in countless dances. He and his wife of 41 years, Florence Fisher, were also accomplished square dancers and enjoyed camping, traveling, and taking cruises together. He was a skilled carpenter and was very proud of the large family home that he built in Blue Ridge, GA.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Fisher, and his son, James “Jim” Burdette Fisher. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia D. Curdt, Lynn M. Carter, and Carlyn M Fisher.
He is also survived by his stepsons, Jim Teasdale and wife Helen, Jeff Teasdale and wife Jeri, and stepdaughter, Victoria Page and husband Jim, and many grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by family, friends, fellow veterans, and countless dance partners.
Jim will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery at 9:00 AM on March 25th, 2022.
