

Mrs. Margaret Risher Boggess passed away at the age of 67 of Monday, February 20, 2017 after a brief illness. A native of Linton, Indiana, she was a long time resident of Woodstock, Georgia. Mrs. Boggess was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was married to the late James R. Boggess for nearly 44 years after wedding in 1969. The couple had two sons together, Corey and Scott, and their family later grew to include their two grandchildren, Kayla and Riley. They also rescued a cat together named "Jack" whom Mrs. Boggess cared for. Mrs. Boggess had a passion for books - she enjoyed all types and read everything, nearly 1 book every other day. Besides being an avid reader, she enjoyed traveling, mahjong, and attending sporting events. She was often found rooting for her favorite team, Alabama, as often as being her grandchildren's #1 fan at their soccer games. She was very social and enjoyed participating in various events of the Woodstock Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Boggess was an amazing mother and grandmother - she was very supportive and always managed to be there for each member of her family no matter their need. She was a hard worker and was passionate in her beliefs with her feisty spirit. Mrs. Boggess is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Boggess; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Risher; and brother, John Risher. Survivors include her sons, Corey Boggess of Atlanta, Georgia and Scott Boggess and his wife, Jamie, of Acworth, Georgia; granddaughter, Kayla Boggess (age 14); grandson, Riley Boggess (age 12); sister-in-law, Rita Risher of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; cousin who was more like a sister, Vicki Hensley of Linton, Indiana; cousin, Lee Alexander and her husband, James, of Dallas, Texas; nephew, David Richer and his wife, Jan, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; numerous other cousins; and many relatives on her late husband's side of the family. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm in the Magnolia Room at Woodstock Funeral Home. A celebration of Mrs. Boggess' life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Reece Memorial Chapel at Woodstock Funeral Home. A reception will follow services.
