Marvin was born on Wednesday, February 25, 1931, in Spring Valley, New York to Edward Friedman and Evelyn Molden.
At 17 years old, Marvin enlisted into the United States Army. He was a Korean War combat veteran. In 1950 in Japan, he was with the 1st infantry division and part of the first defense and push against North Korean aggression. In 1969, at Ft. McPherson, Georgia, and after 21 proud years in the Army, Marvin retired Chief Warrant Officer (grade 3) with 3rd Army, 24th infantry division. After retirement, Marvin spent time as a southeast commercial distributor for Magnavox and would also piddle with other small ventures. Marvin also loved to travel and would do so every chance he got. During his life, Marvin owned a few deep-sea boats which made it possible to indulge in something he was very passionate about, and that was fishing. During the summer months, it was very typical to catch Marvin at the lake, water skiing with a cigar hanging out of his mouth, and the rope between his legs. Marvin was a firm but loving father and loved his family tremendously. Marvin definitely loved and lived life to the best of his ability from start to finish. He will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Marvin is preceded in death by his wife, Nina Friedman; his sons, Jeffery Friedman, and Russell Friedman; brother, Herbie Fremont; and two sisters-in-law, Ruthie Friedman, and Marrion Fremont.
Marvin is lovingly survived by his daughter, Bonnie Brady; son, Richard Alan Friedman; brother, Ronnie Friedman; three grandchildren, Michael Brady, Bryan Brady, and Ritchie Friedman; two great grandchildren, Olivia Brady, and Payton Brady. He is also survived by five nieces, Sharyn Fuller, Lisa Friedman Rejwan, Sandy Wells, Debbie Switzer, and Sandy Lucas; five nephews, Bruce Friedman, Tom Cleek, Wayne Friedman, Tim Cleek, and Joey Fremont; and by his best friend, Larry and Cathy Saks.
Marvin will be laid to rest with military honors on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:00am at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. A service to celebrate Marvin will follow on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 12:30pm at Woodstock Funeral Home.
