    So very sorry for your loss.   Mikey was the sweetest baby.  I remember that soft blonde hair and soft eyes and his first steps.  Just such a joy in this world.  You are the best mom too!   So glad to see the photo again of him kissing Paco the parakeet.  Wish I could have been there for you  I am just now finding out.  If you need me, reach out.

The news of Mike's passing broke my heart. Mike was a good friend and had a heart of gold. He was an old soul who would've helped anyone with anything.  Mike loved nature and exploring new places. I remember hiking with him at Vickery Creek and exploring 'the warehouse' and he loved to take new people to explore the bamboo forest by the river in Roswell. Growing up in Taylor Oaks he loved to ride his Yamaha Virago around even though he didn't have a license yet. He was great at making you laugh even when you didn't want to. Mike especially loved his Mom (Vera) and his Dad (Rick) most of all. 
I am sorry that I hadn't seen Mike in a few years and now that can't be undone. It is a regret I will carry with me always. He is part of my heart  and I will cherish that forever.  I pray that God has mercy on Mike's soul and I will continue to pray for him and all impacted by his untimely passing.

I was so blessed to have had the opportunity to share some time with Mike, this past Christmas season, when we visited my sister Linda and her family, Kyle, Lauren and Jerry Penson.   Mike came over several times during our visit, hanging out with us as several of us worked on a puzzle,  watched movies, and just chatted.  In particular, we enjoyed  his joining all of us for our Italian Restaurant outing in Lauren's neighborhood;  I recall how much he enjoyed his fish dinner...I can visualize his big smile.  

Mike was a wonderful, loyal, long time friend to Kyle, and was really also a friend of his parents, Linda and Jerry.  Through all of them, over several years, I learned what a caring,  supportive and true friend Mike was.  I know how deeply his friendship was treasured -- and how his loss will leave an immense hole in their lives.  

My heart goes out to his parents.  There are no words to ease the pain of losing your beloved son.  May you find comfort in memories of days shared, love experienced, cherished moments over these years.   May you see your Michael in your dreams and always feel him with you in your heart.

I met Mike through my son Kyle and came to love and appreciate him as family.  He would come into the house with a big smile and really enjoyed just hanging out, going out with Kyle to see friends, shoot pool, hike, fish or workout.   But he was really in his element with a tool in his hand and I can honestly say my yard equipment is in the best shape its ever been in.  Compared to me he was a mechanical genius and always wanted to help repair anything.  His was a gentle soul and I wish him God speed to his next journey.  When he arrives, I hope he finds all of the tools he could ever need and that he uses them with complete confidence.  

Mike’s Bio
September 15, 1984 – April 5, 2018

We love Mike dearly.  Our hearts have been shattered into a million pieces and it is going to take a long time to heal.  Mike was born in Jackson, Mississippi. In 1984.   We moved to Atlanta in 1995 then move on to Apple Valley, California in 2005, Portland, Oregon in 2010 and back to Atlanta in 2014.  Mike felt that the Alpharetta area was home.

Mike was a good person, honest, trustworthy and honorable.  He made friends easily; he had a way about him that attracted people to him like a moth to a flame.   He was very loyal to friends, family and work.   He had a good work ethic.   He did take missing work lightly and he always strived to arrive early.   Most important is that Mike was honorable and could be trusted.  He was also generous of his time and would do anything to help a friend.
He was not big on sports but he did start to play some basketball recently.   He played pool well and worked out at the gym on a regular basis.  He was concerned about eating well and staying fit.  He  enjoyed riding  his bike and hiking the local trails.   

Mike could cook but preferred to eat what other people cooked.   He searched for new restaurants of note and did not hesitate to try new foods.   He like almost all ethnic foods but most fond on Asian cuisine.   He favorites were Korean BBQ with grilled kimchi, Japanese hot pots and Vietnamese phu.   (Mike and I are both foodies and eating buddies – Dad/Rick)

The most remarkable thing about Mike is that he could fix just about everything.   He was a mechanical marvel.  He loved working on cars and fixing e anything that was broken.    He was also a great handyman around the house.  
We will miss you very much dear Mike and we look forward to meeting up  with you in heaven.

My heart was broken when I heard the news that Mikey, one of my dearest friends, left us. The same for my son, Johnny. We loved him so - he was family to us, like a brother. We feel the same love for dear Rick & Vera. Oh, the memories we shared. I met him at the Tillicum in Oregon. Our hearts & souls were immediately drawn to one another. I’ll never forget riding around in his Mustang, sharing meals at the Tilly & Olive Garden, our trip to Mt. St. Helens & to visit my mom in WA. We sat in her hot tub & looked for constellations. We would spend the night at each others’ houses & cook together & laugh at funny tv shows. We shared a love of rocks & went to a rock & gem museum & a rock & gem show. We exchanged special rocks & fossils w each other. He gave me a silver ring that spins - I wear it every day. He had another one very similar. Our bond. For a brief time, we thought we might be boyfriend & girlfriend!! But we realized that we loved one another too deeply as friends to ruin that friendship. 😉  Mike loved his cat Sammy, loved his parents dearly, & was such a caring, loving friend to those close to him. In our few years together, we were Homeys like no other. We had a couple disagreements & misunderstandings - but it always came back to LOVE & forgiveness, with sweet hugs. He told me of troubles & heartaches, as we all have. I was happy to listen & to encourage him that he was a precious soul, & a wonderful human being. He was always there for anyone who needed a hand. I remember helping him wash our friend, Farzan’s boat. Also, we stayed up half the night sanding his truck one time!! 😂 The times we spent together brought joy to my heart & my boy, Johnny’s too. Mike, I’ll NEVER forget you - your smile & all the laughter. It was my pleasure to support you when you attended meetings & you went to church w me. We would pray together for the challenges your dear mom & dad were going through.  I pray that I’ll see you again my friend, in Heaven. Forever love..❤️

I cannot express my sadness adequately in words.  I love Mike and will miss him always.  He was an amazing human being; full of kindness, love, 
humor, empathy and so very many other talents.  He has been a part of our family for some years.  It is difficult to imagine life without his physical presence - coming in the door bringing with him his smile, laughter, warmth and support.  While he will be a part of me always, life will be more difficult without him in it.  He loved his family with all of his heart.  He was loyal to his friends and often had a unique insight.  I wish I wish I wish....

Dear Rick, Vera and Family, 

I can't say enough how sorry I am for your loss. There just aren't words to really express how sad I am to hear about the loss of Michael, and how sad I feel for your family. My heart goes out to all of you. Michael was a wonderful guy. I really liked him a lot. Of everyone I've worked with, he was one of the few I gravitated to the most. He stood apart from the rest. He was funny, down to earth and such a genuine person. I will miss talking to him and goofing around with him. I will miss his laugh, his smile and his bright, two different colored eyes. I will miss him very much. Again, I can't say enough, how very sorry I am.
I will be thinking about Michael and all of you.

I’m heartbroken with this news.  I’ve been stunned since your father shared the news with me.  I’m glad you were a part of my life, if even for a short time.  I always looked forward to your words of encouragement to my day-to-day stress despite all the internal conflict you were having.  I’m going to miss the random texts and phone calls.  But even more I’m going to miss just our impromptu last minute hang outs.
