Preston Michael Smith, age 34, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018. Preston was born in Lancaster, California on September 16, 1983. He moved to Georgia with his parents as a child and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology from Kennesaw State University on December 16, 2009.
Preston was seemingly an expert in all subjects, fully capable of explaining each in fine detail. He was an avid reader, and some would consider him a “Human Encyclopedia”. He enjoyed reading for pleasure and could read one of his favorite books from cover to cover in a single night. He was smart, funny, and loved to meet new people. Preston never met a stranger and made everyone feel special and welcomed.
Preston had many passions, always keeping family and friends first. He was closest to his sister Mallery, whom he adored. He also looked forward to being an inspiration and mentor for his nephew, Maddox. Some of his passions were riding his Kawasaki, track bike, and dirt bike. A passion he dreamed of one day sharing with Maddox.
Always loyal to his favorite teams, the LSU Tigers, San Francisco ‘49ers, LA Lakers and the Atlanta Braves, he loved the competitive banter and was never afraid to take “the bet”, much to his wallets chagrin.
Cooking, golfing, bowling, and practicing at the range, were some of his other passions. To his family and friends Preston was their “Iron Chef”, a mix between Alton Brown and Bobby Flay. He could cook the perfect meal and whip up anything you could dream up. He worked in the food and beverage industry all his life and most recently as general manager at Sidelines Grille in Holly Springs.
Known to some as “Bub”, “Presto”, or “Prestonian”, his memory will live on through his parents Scott and Doris Smith of Woodstock, Georgia. Sister, Brother-In-Law, & Nephew, Mallery and Uriah Waits and Maddox (22 months) of Jasper, Georgia. His significant other, Chelsea Burke of Woodstock, Georgia. Aunt and Uncle, Sally and Richard Arnold, of Santa Barbara, California. Aunt Anitta Arnold-Valdez of New Jersey and her daughters, Caitlin Arnold Benson and Addison Valdez, of California. And countless others he considered family.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Woodstock Funeral Home; 8855 Main Street Woodstock, Georgia 30188. The family will host a reception following these services at Featherstone’s at Bridgemill 1190 Bridge Mill Avenue Canton, Georgia 30114. Anyone who would like to share a memory or story of Preston is welcome to come.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Preston’s honor for his nephew, Maddox. Information on donating will be posted at www.woodstockfuneralhome.com once established.
