Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Cerlanek, 77, of Woodstock Georgia, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025. Born on November 27, 1947, in Sydney, Ohio, Becky was the daughter of Howard D. Stengel and Dorothy Burkette. She moved to Florida as a young girl and graduated from Sarasota High School in 1965.
Becky met her high school sweetheart, Don Cerlanek, in 1964. They were married for 60 years in February, creating a beautiful life together, filled with love and devotion. Becky was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who always put her family first. She cherished her role as a grandmother, and was affectionately known as "Grandma Becky" at her grandkids' schools.
A lover of animals, Becky had a deep connection with horses, parrots, and her beloved poodles, as well as a special bond with a pet squirrel. She enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly on camping trips across the country. Becky had a passion for collecting trinkets from these trips, keeping precious memories close to her heart. In addition to her love for animals and camping, Becky was a dedicated bookkeeper and office manager for many years.
Becky’s warmth and nurturing spirit extended to her daughters-in-law, whom she treated as her own, and she was known for calling her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to sing “Happy Birthday” every year. Her kindness and devotion to her loved ones knew no bounds.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Dorothy; her sister, Bonnie Goucher; and her brother, Keith Stengel. She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Cerlanek; her sons, David Cerlanek (Sonia) and Donald Cerlanek Jr. (Mitzi); her brothers, Randy Stengel (Debbie) and Donald Stengel; her sisters, Grace McJordan (Walter) and Kay Stengel; her grandchildren, Adam, Allison, Regan, and Owen Cerlanek; her stepmother, Christine Stengel; as well as numerous deeply loved nieces, nephews, and special friends, including Donna and Ron Gordon, and Dean and Sandy Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Becky’s memory be made to various zoos, a cause that was close to her heart.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, at the Wellesley Clubhouse in Woodstock, Georgia.
Becky’s legacy of love, kindness, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
