While Rene’ was in declining health, he maintained his sense of humor, appreciation for good food, love of nature, devotion to his wife and family, and love for the Lord until his final day.
Rene’ was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, came to the United States as a child, and became a U.S. citizen. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years.
Following his retirement with the U.S. Air Force, Rene’ began his second career in the private sector where he opened Action Printing in Pascagoula, Mississippi. During this time, he was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served as an elder for 18 years.
Upon his second retirement, Rene’ and his wife Inge fulfilled their lifelong dream and motor homed for over a dozen years throughout much of North America, touching most of the 50 states including Alaska and many parts of Canada.
Rene’ and Inge have lived in Woodstock, Georgia for the last decade. They are active members of Savior of All Lutheran Church in Cartersville and are surrounded by a loving congregation. Rene’ served as an elder there until very recently.
Rene’ was preceded in death by his mother Cecile Carpentier; father Gustav Carpentier; and brothers Pierre Carpentier and Andre’ Carpentier.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Inge Carpentier; son Michael Carpentier (Lynne); daughters Angela Shever (Jim), Anne Dahnke (Tom), and Teresa Fuller; grandchildren Becca Carpentier, Chris Carpentier, Noah Shever, Lexi Shever, Christine Onwuemene (Onnie), Michelle Dahnke, John Tompkins, Jacob Tompkins, and Kevin Tompkins; and great grandchildren Amara Tompkins and Theo Onwuemene.
Rene’ was a faithful and adoring husband, a dedicated older brother, a loving father, a fun friend, a hard worker, a good cook, a well-read man, a kind and trusting soul, a proud American, and a grateful Christian.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 29th from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with a 12:30 PM service, at the Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests, if you wish, a tribute gift donation to WellStar Community Hospice (https://ssl.4agoodcause.com/wellstar/hospice.aspx) in memory of Rene’ L. Carpentier.
