Richard Aronce LeBlanc Lt Colonel (Ret.) was born on December 3, 1934, to Joseph and Ana Maria (Dolly Wyndelts) LeBlanc in Atlanta, GA. He spent his youth working in one of his father’s two “LeBlanc’s” restaurants in Atlanta, working summers as a batboy for the Atlanta Crackers, throwing newspapers and establishing himself as an exceptional athlete in both football and baseball for his beloved Grady High. His distinguished early successes in ROTC led him naturally to a career in the US Army. It was during his final college days at Georgia State College, and just 10 days after the passing of his beloved mother, that Richard met his forever love, Mozelle Baker on May 11, 1956 on the steps of Georgia State College. They married on March 16, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atlanta, and began a lifelong love affair that spanned more than 65 years. They quickly and lovingly welcomed 3 daughters into their family (Katherine, Lisa and Danielle). They travelled the world and raised their family during Richard’s 21 years as a distinguished military officer. In 1978, Richard and Mozelle returned home to Atlanta as he began yet another career working for State of Georgia Department of Revenue, finally retiring 1996. Richard is survived by his wife, his three daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Richard personified faith, simplicity, humility, fidelity and honor. He lived life in service to his great loves: his God, his country, his wife, and his family. His life was a quiet but eloquent expression of his selfless devotion to those loves. For those who knew him, the integrity of Richard’s goodness and loving kindness was inspirational.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Richard at 11 am on Thursday, July 14 at The Catholic Church of St. Ann 4905 Roswell Road in Marietta, followed by a military burial at the National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 9 am on Friday, July 15 at 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive in Canton. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
