

Robert Theodore Carter died on Saturday, the 14th of September 2019, in Canton, Georgia, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 81 years of age.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Lee Carter; daughter, Laura Johnson and her husband, Bruce Johnson, of New York; son Robert W. Carter and his wife, Cindy Carter, of Woodstock, Georgia; son, Scott Carter of Belton, Missouri; sisters, Pamela, Susan and Jill; brother, Paul; grandchildren, Patrick, Max, Jessica, Cortney, Christopher, Joseph and Kiki; and great-grandchildren, A.J. and Penelope.
He was born on the 10th of January 1938 in Brooklyn, New York, as the son of Ansel and Doris Carter and served as an altar boy for many years with his brother, Paul, at the local Episcopal Church. At the age of 17 years old, he joined the United States Navy and served most of his time in the Bahama’s Naval station performing maintenance duties on Seaplanes. Once finished with his Navy commitment of over 4 years of active duty service (from 1955 to 1960), he returned to New York and married his bride of 54 years, Lee Carter and began a career with Trans World Airlines that lasted for 33 years (from 1966 to 1999). During this time, he also was a Volunteer Fireman at East Islip and Saville New York Fire Departments spanning close to 25 years.
Robert T. Carter’s love of family and devotion to his wife was a tribute of life long service towards his country and community. His smile was contagious and he was a positive force for all of his family members. “We will all greatly miss him and knowing that he no longer needs his wheel chair and is free from Parkinson’s disease is our greatest solace. Please Lord love him as much as we do because your Angel Robert T. Carter is coming to rest with you. Love you Dad…..”
