

Our beloved mother, Sallye Beth Hinson Brown, 84 , died on February 14, 2026 in Woodstock, Georgia. She was born to Eugene Vaughan Hinson and Virginia Ogilvie Hinson on June 17, 1941 in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised in Des Arc. It was there that she developed the leadership, grace, and strength that would define her life.
Sallye was a honor graduate of Des Arc High School in 1959 where she serve as Treasurer of the Senior Class, Beta Club member, Business Manager of the Yearbook, and active member of the Future Homemakers of America. She attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas and the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Where she prepared for a meaningful future.
She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 40 years, honoring her heritage and the legacy of those who came before her.
She married in 1961 and built a beautiful family, raising three children that were her greatest pride and joy.
She enjoyed a 20 year career at ALFA Insurance in Montgomery, Alabama before retiring.
She loved tending her garden and playing the piano, filling her home with beauty and music. She was also an excellent cook and truly made the very best sweets. Her kitchen was place of comfort, laughter, and love
Sallye was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jerry Vaughan Hinson of Des Arc.
She was survived by her sister, Marcia Kelly (John) of Little Rock, Arkansas and three children, Reginald X. Brown (Brenda) of Marietta, Georgia, Virginia Owens (Michael) of Roseville, California, and Beth Gentry (Brian) of Prattville, Alabama.
Other survivors include eight grandchildren, Owen Carr, Sarah Owens, Corbin Brown, McKenzie Grace Powell, Sawyer Gentry, Paige Woodhouse, Mac Brown, and Andi Brown. Her joy only multiplied by the addition of her four surviving great grandchildren, Dixon Carr, Joseph Carr, Mason Woodhouse, and Charlie Woodhouse.
Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family will continue through every generation that she helped shape. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
The family will have a memorial service on June 17, 2026 in Des Arc.
