Terry was born in Memphis, Tennessee and was the second son of Lemond and Josephine Gipson. At an early age, Terry professed a hope in Christ and was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church (Stonewall) in Memphis. He graduated from Booker T. Almost immediately after high school, he volunteered to serve in the Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam War. While in the Corps, he attained the rank of sergeant. Upon leaving active duty, he served several years in the Marine Corps Reserves.
Terry met the love of his life, Cherry Mae Jones, in 1966; and they were united in holy matrimony in 1970. To this union, their one child Jennifer was born. Being an industrious man, and after holding down various jobs in Memphis, Terry started his own company, Resources International, which later became Phoenix Consulting with his partner Dermott. The business led him to move to Georgia in 1991. He and Cherry had been residents of Woodstock since 1994 at the time of his departure.
Terry was a member of the Marine Corps League 1311 of Woodstock, GA., a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), as well as a lifetime member of the Montfort Point Marines, and a lifetime member of Woodstock American Legion Post 316.
Terry was preceded in passage by both his mother and father, his brother Robert Earl
Gipson, and his brother Anthony Gipson. He leaves to mourn his departure, his devoted wife, Cherry; loving daughter and granddaughter, Jennifer Vernita Proctor and Sabrina Holly Proctor (Benjamin), respectively; loving sisters Ethel Thomas (James), Sandra Hollowell, & Roschelle Winston (Rayford); a doting sister-in-law, Jennifer Jones Marshall; special sisters-in-law Earnestine Cade Dowdy, Edna Jones Pride (Al), & Cynthia Jones Barnes (Keith); compassionate brothers-in-law Gregory Jones (Sandra) and Oliver Jones (Kimberly); and a host of admiring and loving nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, & neighbors.
