

Victoria Ann Bratton Scuka was born on December 17, 1947, in Salina, Kansas to Mr Donald R. Bratton and Mrs Edith Ann Bratton. She attended Wichita High School Southeast, graduating on May 31, 1966. She met Rodney W. Scuka at the local swimming pool. Vicki and Rod then married June 22, 1968, at The First Evangelical Free Church of Wichita, Kansas. Rod was active duty in the United States Air Force.
Immediately after being married, the couple flew back to Biloxi, Mississippi where Rod was stationed. Once training was completed, he then received orders to report to Luke AFB in Phoenix, Arizona. While there their first child, Lisa Michelle was born in July. Shortly after that, they received orders to go to Tucson, Arizona for approximately a year.
Rodney was then sent overseas to Rimini, Italy from Davis-Monthan AFB. Vickie who was expecting their second child and Lisa then joined Rod two months later in Italy. Mark Alan was born January 4,1971 at Vicenza, Italy U.S. army base. They continued to live there for 2 years taking in the Italian culture of Rome, Florence, and Venice.
After Rod’s tour of duty in Italy, he and the family received orders to report state side to McGuire Air Force base in New Jersey receiving his honorable discharge papers. Shortly after being discharged Rod secured a job moving him and the family to Dallas, Texas to work in the electronics industry.
Once in Dallas, Rod and Vicki soon had their third child, James Lee. Vicki and Rod raised the family in Carrollton, Texas. Vicki strived to keep a lovely home and enjoyed making very detailed and decorated cakes for the family as a hobby. She also began attending church with a growing interest in both knowledge and in a personal relationship with Jesus as Christian believer.
Later, Vicki began pursuing her nursing degree all while raising three children and keeping up with all the family activities. She would study most evenings and successfully graduated from El Centro College with an associate in applied arts and sciences on May 20, 1982. All this while her husband Rod worked full-time as an electronic engineer and went to night school. Vicki was a practicing registered nurse in the states of Texas, Ohio, and Illinois.
Working with Ranco in 1990, Rod and the family were transferred to Columbus, Ohio where they resided for eleven years. It’s in Ohio where Vicki and Rod became grandparents to Steve and Lisa’ Mooney’s 4 boys: Jakob, Austin, Mason, and Steven Garrett. And grandparents to James and Jamie Lynn Scuka’s two boys: Parker James and Nicholas Vincent.
At the end of 11 years and being empty nesters, Rod and Vicki moved to McHenry, Illinois where at the age of 65, Vicki retired. Approximately 2 years later when Rod retired, they decided they wanted a change of venue, and they moved to be near their son Mark Scuka, who was already residing in Issaquah, Washington.
Seeking a new adventure and wanting to enjoy their retirement years in a warmer climate, they moved to Woodstock, Georgia in 2017. While living in Georgia, Vicki and Rod became great-grandparents to Judah Chase Mooney, son of Austin and Larisa Mooney.
Vicki and Rod celebrated almost 56 years of marriage during her lifetime. She was deeply loved and adored by her husband. She was adventurous, creative, and passionately in love with her husband all the way until her passing. Even in her final days, she would look for Rod, and ask for a kiss.
A service to celebrate Vicki will be Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 11:00am, at Woodstock Funeral Home. Vicki will be laid to rest in a private service at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
