He was born in Cook County in Chicago, Illinois on July 24, 1923 to William and Aline Matheson.
He was a US Navy Veteran and spoke fondly of the days when he was in active duty.
He was a resident of Golden Living Nursing Home in Sandy Springs where he passed.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
