Adelaide Rice

Addi, as she was known by most, was predeceased by her father James Fisher, a Lutheran minister, and her mother Madeline. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gary (Rice), son Brian (Rice), and cousin Joanne Fisher. Also cousins by marriage Curt and Mary Galloway, Steve and Carol Bowman, David Galloway, and friends Jane O'Neil and Marcia Brandt.

Addi was raised in New Philadelphia, Ohio, where she became a very talented organist who played church services for her father. She graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1959. She attended and graduated from Wittenberg University in 1964.

Addi toured Europe and the Middle East with her family while in high-school and studied in England for a year during her college years. Following graduation from Wittenberg, she began a 32 year teaching career with The Columbus Public Schools from which she retired in 1996.

Addi was a kind, loving person who did much to help others both in and outside of her work. She was loved by many and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Adelaide was a very special person.

A graveside service for Adelaide will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 West Broad Street, Galloway, Ohio 43119.
