

Ann Earl, 88, of Columbus, passed away at her residence, on January 8, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Columbus, OH, on January 5, 1935, to the late Edward and Harriet (Wyandt) Cockfield. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, James and David Cockfield.
She attended West High School and graduated in 1953. Later she attended The Ohio State University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in1957 and furthermore continued her education in 1966 at The Ohio State University.
Ann spent her professional career in Public Education at Columbus City Schools. Once her children were born she took a break from education to care for them. Following her break from education, Ann returned to her love of teaching, and worked for Worthington Public Schools and The Wellington School in Upper Arlington, where she established and directed summer programming for preschoolers through 12th grade, adults, and a Japanese High School exchange program.
She has many interests, but above all, Ann loved music. She participated in the Columbus Symphony Chorus, was a member of the Damenchor, and she sung for the Worthington United Methodist Church Choir. In addition to music, Ann loved to garden, read, write poetry, swim, and sew where she was a member of the Sewing Guild at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She also had a love for animals. Ann was an active member at Worthington United Methodist Church where she participated in many programs throughout the years.
She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her Daughter, Beth Ann Earl; grandchildren, Justice, Julian, and Quinn Page; Daughter, Nancy (Scott) Thompson; grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer Thompson; son, William (Machell) Earl; grandchildren, Carson Earl and Haley Earle (Kyle); and great grandchildren, Archer and Althea Sharpe.
A Memorial Service will be held on January 20, 2023, at 12pm, at Worthington United Methodist Church.
