Cheryl Dade, 76, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 2, 2024. She was born on July 17, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Logan and Norma Jean (Washington) Corbin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Gerald L. Dade Sr.; brother, Mike Corbin; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Chico) Brazil; and brother-in-law, Howard Dade.
Cheryl was a talented seamstress who spent many years creating and tailoring clothing for her community, including choir robes, men’s and women’s suits, prom and wedding dresses. Her exquisite work was showcased in fashion shows around the city of Columbus, earning her a well-deserved reputation for her skills and creativity. She also enjoyed crafting, particularly cross-stitch, crocheting, and knitting, sharing her handmade pieces with loved ones.
Cheryl retired from Discover Card Financial Services after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Beyond her professional life, she was known for her unwavering support and love for her family. She was always on the road, traveling to cheer on her children and grandchildren in their various activities—from drill team competitions with her daughter to football and basketball games for her son. Her grandsons, Alvin and Aron, brought her much joy as they traveled the country playing football and lacrosse, and Cheryl was always their biggest fan.
In her retirement, Cheryl spent countless hours enjoying life with her friends and family. She and her husband frequently traveled to Las Vegas, a favorite destination. She loved playing cards with family, basking on beautiful beaches, cruising, and attending concerts and football games to cheer on her favorite teams.
Cheryl will be greatly missed by her children, Veronica (Clinton) Wallace and Gerald Dade Jr.; grandchildren, Alvin T. Meek IV, Aron (Victoria) T. Meek, and Lindsay Goldsmith; siblings, Sister Chris Jerreals and brother Steve Corbin; and sister-in-laws, Geraldine Quinn, and Brenda Dade and Brother-in-law Steven Dade; her bonus grandchildren, Aiasha (Jason) Ellenwood and Alexus Wallace; four great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends, including special friends Carole Mabra and Suzi Livingston.
